PIPC Forum 2013

Changing the Culture of Research: From CER Prioritization to Dissemination

Picture
On Tuesday, November 5, 2013, the Partnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC) held its 4th Annual Forum in Washington, DC to explore how comparative effectiveness research (CER) entities can change the culture of research to be more patient-centered. The Forum, held at the Reserved Officers Association Building on Capitol Hill, featured a panel of highly respected thought-leaders who shared insights on the progress of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) in engaging stakeholders to identify research priorities, discuss patient-centered dissemination strategies, and explore the application of usability criteria throughout the research process.

Panelists included Dr. Hal Sox, Senior Advisor to PCORI, Dr. Bryan Luce, Chief Science Officer, PCORI, Marc Boutin, Executive Vice President and COO, National Health Council, Dr. Darius Tandon, Co-Chair, PCORI Advisory Panel on Patient Engagement and Associate Director, Center for Community Health at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and Dr. Tanisha Carino, Executive Vice President, Avalere. The panel was moderated by the Honorable Tony Coelho, who serves as the chairman of PIPC.
