 | PIPC recently submitted a comment letter on the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute's (PCORI) Patient-Centered Patient-Centered Economic Outcomes Landscape for Considering the Full Range of Outcomes in PCORI-funded research. |
The letter encourages PCORI's final published landscape to be cross referenced to the Patient Engagement Rubric so that PCORI-funded research is guided in determining burdens and economic impacts based on the experiences of patients and people with disabilities. PIPC also encourages PCORI to use the terminology patient-centered burdens and economic outcomes (PCBEOs) instead of patient-centered economic outcomes (PCEOs).
"We appreciate PCORI’s work to provide examples, allowing for each study to use effective engagement strategies to identify patient-centered outcomes that present a burden or economic impact on patients," wrote PIPC Chair Tony Coelho. "We look forward to the final version emphasizing engagement with the communities and organizations that represent the patient and disability populations as collaborators in developing and implementing strategies to capture the burdens and economic impacts in a study"
